Glentek Linear Brushless Servo Amplifiers (SMA6110 Series)

Glentek's SMA6520 series linear servo amplifiers provide the optimum solution for applications which require high current loop bandwidth, low radiated electrical noise and zero crossover distortion. These amplifiers incorporate our latest generation ISO-BIAS current sense technology which provide one of the lowest drift linear amplifiers on the market today. These amplifiers are constructed using surface mount technology and incorporate the latest in heat transfer technology which make them one of the most powerful amplifiers for a given form factor.

Typical applications which are ideal for the SMA6520 series amplifiers include low inductance/resistance brushless amd brush motors (linear or rotary), high resolution linear brushless motor stages and voice coil motors.

Trapezoidal

The Trapezoidal Linear brushless servo amplifier accepts a +/-10V analog input as a command reference and commutates the motor trapezoidally using Hall sensors or commutation tracks from an encoder. It operates in current (torque) mode and has an option to operate in velocity (RPM) mode with the input of a tachometer. This amplifier is best suited for low inertia applications that require high bandwidth, low noise, zero crossover distortion and where slight torque ripple is acceptable. Following is a list of the Trapezoidal Linear servo amplifiers that Glentek offers: SMA6520-50HS-12.

2 Phase / 3 Phase Current Mode / Voice Coil (DC brush in current mode)

The 2-Phase Current Mode Linear brushless servo amplifier accepts two +/-10V analog inputs as current command references for two of the motor phases and derives the third command reference. The 3-Phase Current Mode brushless servo amplifier accepts three +/-10V analog inputs as current command references for three of the motor phases. This amplifier is best suited for low inertia applications that require high bandwidth, low noise, zero crossover distortion and are used with controllers that provide the commutation. Following is a list of the 2-Phase/3-Phase or Voice coil (DC Brush) Current Mode servo amplifiers that Glentek offers: SMA6520-50HS-11.

Features & Options:

  • Ergonomic design: Easy access to connections, adjustments and test points.

  • SMT construction Provides ultra compact size, cost competitive package and high reliability.

  • Bandwidth: All servo amplifiers have a nominal 4000 Hertz current loop bandwidth which varies with the motor inductance. Higher bandwidths are available upon request.

  • Linear output stage: Provides high bandwidth, low noise and zero crossover distortion.

  • Multimode operation: The Trapezoidal and 2-Phase/3-Phase Current Mode servo amplifiers can operate in current (torque) mode. In addition, the Trapezoidal servo amplifier can close the velocity loop via feedback of a DC tachometer.

  • Wide operating voltage: Operating voltages range from either +/-24 to +/-70 VDC for Module configurations and 17 to 50 VAC for Stand Alone and Multi-Axis configurations.

  • Industry std. mounting: Available in Module, Stand Alone or Multi-Axis configurations. Optional custom mounting configurations are available to meet virtually any requirement.

  • Two basic versions Available in Trapezoidal and 2-Phase/3-Phase Current Mode commutated versions.

  • Fault protection: Short from output to output, short from output to ground, amplifier RMS over current, amplifier under/over voltage, amplifier over temperature and motor over temperature.

  • Status indicator: 7-segment display indicates amplifier status and diagnostics.

  • Dedicated inputs: +/- limits, inhibit, fault, motor over temperature and reset for SMA6110. Inhibit, fault, motor over temperature and reset for SMA6310.

  • External fault reset: An input is provided to reset the amplifier in the event of a fault.

  • Current limit: Peak motor current is adjustable.

  • CE compliant: All servo amplifiers are CE marked.
